Statement
m.l.duffy operates a project-based public sculpture arts practice that frequently focuses on site-specifics, stated project themes, and expressed community needs. Non-commissioned artworks often navigate within the realm of the semiotics of archetypes; universally understood objects or symbols and their related ideas, concepts, and meanings. Ideally, public projects and personal tendencies reach a satisfying synergy that creates a lasting, iconic artwork that becomes a symbol for the community.
Neither a luddite nor a technophile, duffy uses a wide range of media, methods, and technical experience appropriate to the successful execution of artworks ranging from monumental-scaled figurative bronzes, engineered steel abstractions, and finely-carved wood objects.
